1. Alto Turia

Alto Turia is in the Northwest of Valencia province. This is the highest part of Valencia and has severe winters and mild summers. Vineyards are planted between 700 and 1,100 meters altitude. Nearly all grapes are white, especially Merseguera and Macabeo.

2. Valentino

This subzone is located in the center of Valencia province and  emcompasses Hoya de Buñol, Camp de Túria and Los Serranos areas. Vineyards are between 200 and 650 meters altitude. We can find several white grape varieties, mainly Merseguera, Macabeo or Planta Fina as well as the recently planted Semillon and Chardonay. Red grapes are principally Tintorera, Tempranillo and Cabernet Sauvignon. Different weather and soil conditions produce a large variety of wines in this subzone.

3. Moscatel de Valencia

Moscatel is in the center part of the province and borders Valentino subzone. Production is limited to the municipalities of Chiva, Cheste, Godelleta, Montroy, Monserrat, Real de Montroy and Turís. The weather is warm, sunny and influenced by Mediterranean breeze, ideal conditions for the Muscat of Alexandría grapes, that are used to make the most representative wine of PDO Valencia, Mistela or  Vino de Licor Moscatel.

4. Clariano

Clariano is located in the south border of Valencia province and includes the areas of La Vall d’Albaida and La Costera. La Vall d’Albaida is divided into two different parts. The first one is near the sea with predominantly white varieties and Tintorera as the main red. The latter is delimitated by the municipalities of La Font de la Figuera, Moixent and Ontinyent and includes Fontanars dels Alforins. This part is dominated by red varieties like Monastrell, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Tempranillo.

Due to the similar soil and weather conditions as well as the historical rights, Clariano subzone also includes the vineyards of the adjacent municipalities.
